1. Dawn, what can you tell us about yourself?

I like long walks on the beach, a good book, and to lay by the fire. Haha…no not really. What can I say? I guess I am your average American. I love a good cheeseburger, a glass of wine, and to snuggle up to a good movie on the couch with my hubby.

We don’t have any kids of our own but I have two beautiful step daughters and a cat named Leo who is extremely vocal. He yells at me often for the things he “thinks” he needs. I love the Lord and am really active at my church in the worship ministry there. My faith is really important to me and plays a huge role in every aspect of my life.

2. What is your position at Pad & Quill and what do you do?

Some would call me the "Pad and Quill Master of Chaos” but my official title you ask? That would be Operations Manager. Then the tough question is to figure out what exactly I do here at PQ. Not because I don’t do anything, but because I do so many things. I have my hands in a lot of different areas and I love it! A lot of what I do is inventory management, making sure everything is in stock and, if it isn’t, figuring out when it’s going to be so the customers can get what they need as fast as possible.

I help manage customer service and interact with them daily to help with any issues that might arise, I oversee all shipping and QC on all items. Though I may not be the one shipping your case every day, I am usually the one who makes sure items are properly checked the first time around, along with Mr. PQ. Oh… and ordering lunch for the Pad and Quill staff from time to time. This may be the most important task of all...

3. What do you enjoy most about working at Pad & Quill?

I love the fact that this is a family environment. I don’t just work for a company, I work for a family. Mr. and Mrs. PQ are my family. Their kids are my family. The employees here are my family. Speaking of family…the way I ended up working here at Pad and Quill is because of my older brother who worked here at the time as our lead finisher told me 3 years ago that they were hiring for a seasonal shipper. I would love to tell you I jumped at the chance to be in a shipping job, but at the time I didn’t think taping packages or folding boxes sounded very exciting. However, I knew I needed a job so I took it because my brother told me what an amazing company Pad and Quill was. He was absolutely right! A year and a half later I was promoted to shipping manager and was learning even more about every part of the shipping experience, talking to customers more, and learning the ins and outs of all our products. Then last year I was promoted to Operations Manager and it’s been such a blessing! I am so thankful for my brother who suggested the seasonal position to me 3 years ago!

4. Do you have any hidden talents?

Well, I can’t do anything super cool like swallow knives or anything but...I can sing. I’m not about to go win the Voice or anything but I am a member of the worship team at my church and I have been known to hit up some karaoke bars every now and again.

I think one of my hidden talents could be that I can make you laugh just by hearing me laugh. I have one of those contagious laughs…is that a talent?

5. What are you passionate about?

My biggest passion in life is my faith in Jesus Christ and worshiping through music.

6. What is your favorite Pad & Quill product?

I can’t narrow it down to just one…because there’s too many to love here. So instead, I will tell you about the three products that I use on a daily basis and what I love about them.

1) My Leather Backpack in Charcoal Black. This carries my Macbook 13inch and all my essentials and I just love it!

2) Lowry Band in Chestnut for my Apple Watch. The leather is incredibly soft as soon as you get it on, and when you’ve been wearing it for a couple months it just breaks in even more and it looks and feels amazing! I get so many compliments on my band.

3) Luxury Book case for my iPhone 6 Plus because it holds my iPhone, my cards and cash, which is great because many times I don’t even take my purse with me places I just take my Luxury Book to the store or out to dinner! It’s handy and easy to carry around. Love it!

7. What are the 3 funniest emails you’ve ever gotten from customers?

This is a hard one to choose because we’ve gotten so many great ones! I think the best is when we get jokes back from customers. I love to laugh so whenever I get jokes - even if they aren’t very good - it brightens my day.

Here are a few of my favorites that I saved on my desk… One customer wrote on a sticky note:

“Please fix my wallet. It’s very important to me. I have only bad jokes, but here are several rubber bands, and a cat face.” And yes, he included several rubber bands…..and drew a picture of a cat. This seriously made my day because it was so random.

Another customer wrote a note to one of our customer service guru’s and drew a picture and the note read something like this:

“As you can see, my awesome case is indeed looking a bit under the weather, more like an underwear from an old dresser of a great-grandmother who doesn’t like to shop much. Comfortable but not very 'Victoria’s Secretsy' as your quality products should be.” Then they continued on to say…”Thank you very much for understanding. I really like the case; maybe one of the reasons I still own an iPhone 4. Other than the fact that I really like the number 4."

And my third favorite:

“I love my iPhone cover, it is so awesome and so are you cats for making it and keeping it alive! Everyone is always amazed by how awesome my Pad and Quill phone cover is so thanks again. I am always so careful not to stress out the springy thingy (elastic) but as you can tell it looks like an old pair of granny panties now, *yuck! Ha! You cats rock! Thanks!”

Thanks to our customers for being original and having fun with us! Trust me when I say we love to laugh around here and your jokes don’t go unnoticed!
