I have been contemplating the Field Bag ever since I purchased the Contega Linen case for iPad Air (awesome case, by the way). I've waffled back and forth between the Field and Messenger, never sure which style I preferred. Likely why it took me over 6 months to make a decision.
Finally the vertical design of the Field Bag won me over and I placed my order. I chose to pick up my bag since I live locally and my order was ready within 3 hours. So far (okay, it's been an hour), I absolutely love my bag - the bright orange interior is a nice contrast to the chocolate leather and olive green canvas. The fit of the bag is a bit tight when my both my laptop and iPad (in the case) are in, but since I rarely carry both at once, I should be fine. The quality is evident just by looking at the bag – solid hardware and smooth, supple leather. I can tell this is something I’ll have for a long time.
*Pockets and storage for all of my work needs
*Vertical design (doesn’t seem as bulky as a wider messenger bag, even though it’s close to the same dimensions)
*Quality of fabrics, leathers and buckles: top notch
*Price – I realise it’s handmade, but it’s still quite the investment
*Shoulder strap pad – it’s not made clear in any of the pictures or videos that there is a thick (movable) pad on the shoulder strap. Not the end of the world, but it’s a bit too big for me and it cuts into my neck a bit.
*A 15” laptop does fit, but it’s a very tight fit (especially if there is things in the other pockets)
*No zippered pocket – even though the pockets have flaps, a zipper would be nice for cash or keys
I'd definitely recommend P&Q to my friends, I haven’t been disappointed yet (I might be broke soon, but not disappointed).
