Good but not Perfect

I love my case except for one thing. The bumpers that give it a "custom" fit wear out too easily. Yes, they supplied extra in the box, but I've already had to replace two that split in half and stopped holding the iPad in place. At this rate I'm going to run out rather quickly. I wish they'd use a better material. Otherwise the case is beautiful and functional.

Gorgeous piece of workmanship!

I live in Minneapolis (where Pad & Quill is based) and so I popped by there this morning to pick one up from their warehouse in person. I have been looking for a good iPad "book" case for a while and although there are others out there, for one reason or another they didn't do the job (and some were just not good quality workmanship). Not so with the Contega. It looks like a high-quality book inside and out - all the seams and bindings look perfect, and the bonded leather they used for the cover looks wonderful. The wood case that holds the iPad is a nice tight fit, the wood is machined very close and there are rubber "bumpers" that give tension to hold it in there (and it comes with extra bumpers too).
A nice feature that on the Contega is the sound "channel" they built around the speaker. They did a lot of thinking on this product!
The cover can be folded back in "vertical" mode to read - and it feels very nice in the hands this way. I really don't like holding the iPad by itself (feels a little awkward) so I think this will encourage me to read with it more. The selling point for me on this one over the other "book" cases out there is the multiple viewing angles built into the cover. Funny how just two little channels make all the difference.
My only complaints about this product relate to the openings in the wood for access to the iPad knobs and ports. The hole for the power is pretty narrow - i happen to have a long fingernail so I can get in there and flick the knob, but fatter fingers might need more space. Also the space around the headphone hole is a little tight. But like I said, these are minor.
This case is truly a thing of beauty and I can't wait to use it and see how it breaks in and gets better with age.
