Off the Cuff, Rugged Yet Soft Leather

"The Lowry Cuff pulls together the raw organic nature of leather, with the smooth and refined hubris of the Apple Watch."

The Pad & Quill team doesn’t work very hard to create marketing opportunities because they come to us naturally. This summer, Mr. PQ enjoyed the summer weather in his Triumph Thruxton and Jeep Wrangler, wistfully buffeting the wind with his left arm, ready to engage in the distinct greeting of a hand wave and nod that is unique to both of these riding communities. What a better way to showcase Pad & Quill's new Lowry Leather Cuff for Apple Watch than at these casual stoplight meet and greets.

We trusted the legendary Horween Tannery with producing the amazingly rugged but soft leather for this Apple Watch strap. They've been perfecting leather making since 1905, and the handmade American full-grain, vegetable tanned leather with a raw edge has an urban chic feel we live and love. The cuff feels sturdy yet supple on your wrist, with a rugged exterior and a velvet-soft suede interior. Forged nickel buckles, hand finished stitching, and a signature from the artisan complete the package. All this combines to form a luxurious leather Apple Watch strap that is both rugged and refined.

The Lowry Cuff is as urban as its namesake. Made next door on the banks of the Mississippi River, the supple leather and raw edge of this luxury leather cuff for the Apple Watch give homage to the eclectic feel of the city we call home.

I absolutely love this band. It has a great feel and works well with the Apple Watch. The hole cut in the cuff is perfect for the heart rate sensor. The stitching is a nice touch, and the hardware all feels solid.
I only wish there was a slightly smaller option. The strap with the adjustment holes in it is rather long, and almost wraps all the way around to the watch itself. It is hard to keep the tail contained by the free loop, making it a little awkward to wear and look at. That piece actually can slide out of the cuff easily, making it easy for the company to offer two sizing options similar to the S/M and M/L Apple offers on the sport bands. (Posted on 6/30/16)

I was given the dark brown band as a birthday gift. I absolutely love it. Nice soft feel along with top of the line quality. I've been given compliments on it the first day out. My only gripe is the band is a little short, luckily I have a small wrist. I will definetly be purchasing the Black and Tan band in the near future. Thanks (Posted on 5/25/16)

Beautiful leather and craftsmanship. The only problem is that it didn't come close to fitting my wrist. Please make in a larger size! (Posted on 4/20/16)

I have tried several different third party leather bands for my Apple watch and this one is by far the best quality. I bought it when it first came out and have worn it for several months and the longer I wear it, the better it feels. High quality leather and very good craftsmanship.

My only quibble is the length of the watch band. I am a tall woman with appropriately sized hands for my height and the band is about an inch too short for the tail to tuck under the the second loop. And as other reviewers have commented there an excess of unused holes in the band.

But I have come back to purchase the band in the American Tan, my first was in the dark brown, so I must really like the band.

One last suggestion, how about some different colors such as a lighter blue, red, and even pink! I've been searching for a good quality pink cuff band and everything has come up short. (Posted on 3/27/16)

This is really an excellent cuff. It has become my daily driver fro the Apple Watch. I really love it. However, like many other reviewers, Pad and Quill should really size this as M/L and introduce a true L. (Posted on 3/4/16)

Overall this is an excellent band. It has become pretty much my daily driver. Like the other reviewers, I think Pad and Quill was trying to strike a balance with the size and I think it falls short. They should really introduce at least two sizes calling the current offering a M/L and adding a true L. (Posted on 3/4/16)

I agree with many of the reviewers, this band is excellent, though it is a bit small, and a bit chunky in a couple places. Well worth it for the small to medium wristed. (Posted on 3/2/16)

This is a beautiful band with excellent build quality refined materials. In my opinion, the sole issue with this band is the strap with the adjustment holes. Comically, the strap features 12 holes but only 2 or 3 of those are actually useful, if you are lucky. You could say it's a style choice to have that many holes run that high up the strap but the utility is questionable. Who is really going to use any of the notches in the upper third of the strap? I will say that since the material used is a high quality leather, the band will break in and stretch a bit after about a week or two of use. When I first started using the band i was using the second to last notch. Now i can buckle it comfortably on the fourth. Additionally, because the the 6 o'clock strap is so short, the free loops on the 12 o'clock strap do not really function. That area becomes a bit of a disheveled mess. This could all be remedied with a strap that's just one inch longer. (Posted on 1/9/16)

This is the only third party band that I would recommend. Really great feel, and amazing look. Like some others have said though, the band isn't very large. I don't feel that I have super thick wrists, and I and right at the edge. If there were a way for me to get just the lower strap replaced for a longer pice of leather that would be amazing. I agree with the first review that the craftsmanship is above all the others who have made 3rd party bands for the Apple Watch. It does not look cheap. Has a great quality. But I too have thicker wrist. The band fits only to the last hole and it's a bit tight. The end of the band with the holes has a small piece of leather left over after hooking it to the last hole. This part isn't long enough to fit into the loop in order to keep it down. Instead, it sticks out like that reluctant piece of hair that won't lay down no matter what you do.

In the end, it's a great band/cuff. Unless P&Q extends the leather maybe a half an inch then I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who "thinks" they may have a thick wrist. For everyone one else, you can't go wrong. It's a great product.

My American tan Lowry cuff just arrived today! I must say the quality and craftsmanship is unrivaled amongst 3rd party Apple Watch bands, definitely worth the price. The only complaint that I have is length of the leather straps. (Posted on 11/30/15)
